INSPIRED = EMPOWERED

Inspire Your Daughters & Sons   Project aims to fill a gap in social support and affirming spaces for boys, girls, and young adults at critical life phases when they are forming identities and learning to cope with numerous stressors that put them at risk for depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. We inspire daughters and sons in grades K-12 to learn etiquette skills in communication, confidence and leadership building skills, and how to find their inner voice through journaling and creative writing.

Our social-emotional learning programs are trauma-informed and align with expert-recommended strategies to support the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of boys & girls as they navigate the journey from adolescence to adulthood. We teach girls & boys how to tap into their inner wisdom to guide them into whom they were created to be.

Mentoring Model

A Mentor is a caring adult who supports a young person through a guided relationship that will foster the resilience needed for the young person to achieve success as she navigates through adolescence.

A Mentor participates in training to learn essential skills and processes to help build a girl’s self-esteem, help her become a stronger leader, and help her set and achieve goals.  Our mentors understand they are to support the girl, not parent, judge, or control her life.

  • Each will receive a community-based 1:1 mentor.

  • The mentor and mentees meet in positive, socially appropriate venues, attend appropriate events such as go to museums

  • Parents/Guardian permission and active participation are required.

  • Mentors undergo a comprehensive screening process: application, interview, criminal background check, and reference checks. Mentors also complete initial and ongoing training on effective mentoring practices.

  • Mentors focus on positive social, academic, career, and life skills as appropriate for the age of the girl.

  • Mentoring activities vary per age group. Pairs do everyday things and just hang out together.

    • Elementary School: Mentoring typically focuses on activities that promote character development, academic success, and reading ability.

    • Middle School: Mentoring activities continue to promote character development and academic success, and begin to introduce a career development focus.

    • High School: Mentoring activities continue to focus on character development and academic success, and emphasize school-to-career preparation.

  • Group activities focus on self-awareness, personal development, community service and leadership development.
